Hanover and Horton
Hanover and Horton, two small towns to the southwest of Jackson, are each enticing in their own right. The two communities are linked to each other and often referred to together due to the fact that they share a school system.
Hanover
Located in southwestern Jackson County, Hanover was established in 1836 by a settler from Hanover, Germany. Incorporated as a village in 1885, Hanover still retains its small-town atmosphere.
If you've never heard a reed organ, you may be treated to their beautiful sounds at The Conklin Reed Organ and History Museum. Nearly 100 antique organs, each unique and in playable condition, are on display at this museum.
Near the museum, Heritage Park is the site of two annual tractor pulls and other yearly events including "Family Fun Night," "Rust 'N' Dust Days", Corn Maze and a 4th of July Celebration.
Horton
Horton features the Horton Mill Pond County Park, which offers playground equipment, a picnic shelter, swimming and fishing. Historic sites within Horton include the former Horton Methodist Episcopal Church, the Horton Historical Wagon Works building and the old Wellman General Store, an 1886 Victorian building with a detailed brick façade.
