Concord

Concord is located in western Jackson County along M-60, just a short drive away from downtown Jackson.

Nestled on the Kalamazoo River, Concord is a picturesque town with a main street lined with businesses that have been family-owned for generations. The town also contains carefully maintained examples of American architectural history. Some buildings dotting this community were built over 100 years ago; Michigan Historical Markers identify three classics: the Paddock-Hubbard House, the Mann House and the Concord Universalist Church.

William Van Fossen settled Concord in 1832, building his home here and naming the area Van Fossenville. However, he officially changed the name to Concord when he applied for a post office. It was incorporated as a village in 1871.

Sweet Seasons Orchard

Located at 15787 Allman Road in Concord, this family owned and operated orchard is open September to Christmas Eve. Offering a wide variety of fruit, as well as Indian corn in the fall and Christmas trees in the winter, Sweet Seasons Orchard has its own bakery. Paddock-Hubbard House

Also on the National Register of Historic Places, the Paddock-Hubbard House was built in 1846. Two New York natives, Alfred and Ruth Paddock, built this Greek Revival style home.

Mann House

This late-Victorian residence was once home to two genteel sisters; today, it is a public museum that reveals the way Michigan residents lived in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The Mann House was the first Jackson County entry to the National Register of Historic Places, added in 1970.

The home itself features plaster ceilings, catch-release doorknobs and a marbleized slate fireplace, and contains eight rooms of period furniture. Some pieces date back to the 1840s.
