Jackson's Great Outdoors

Jackson County is dotted with rolling farmlands, numerous lakes, streams and marshes. The varying terrain makes for picturesque scenery, wildlife habitat and fertile growing conditions. It also makes for great parks and camping areas. If you want to experience—and even interact—with nature, Jackson is a great place to do it.

Cascades Park

Cascades Park covers 457 acres and contains plentiful opportunities for recreation, just south of downtown Jackson. An enchanting blend of carefully maintained gardens and untouched natural areas is just one unique feature of Cascades Park. Once known as the Sparks Foundation County Park, Cascades Park features paddle boat rides, playground and picnic areas and a pavilion.

You can get information on many different local farms, as well as contact information if you were interested in viewing them in person. Explore nature at wildlife sanctuaries or environmental centers. Learn about llamas, fishing, deer, and buffalo at the local ranches and farms. Farm markets and U-picks are plentiful around the county.

For a fun and interesting afternoon, follow our wine trail to the vineyards and wineries in the area.

For the outdoor sportsman Jackson has State recreation and game areas for hunting and over 188 lakes for fishing and boating activities.
