Cascades Park
Cascades Park covers 457 acres and contains plentiful opportunities for recreation, just south of downtown Jackson. An enchanting blend of carefully maintained gardens and untouched natural areas is just one unique feature of Cascades Park. Once known as the Sparks Foundation County Park, Cascades Park features paddle boat rides, playground and picnic areas and a pavilion.
The Cascade Falls
The Cascade Falls are the best known attraction in the Cascades Park. Completed in 1932, this man-made, illuminated waterfall with musical accompaniment is the site of concerts and special events from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Sports of all kinds are a major element of Cascades Park. The Cascades 18-hole Championship Golf Course and the Cascades Short Course and driving range are all enclosed within the park. There is also miniature golf, a basketball court, horseshoe pits and four tennis courts. A pond in the park features a pier for fishing, and is accessible by wheelchair.
Nestled within the park, the elegant Tudor Revival-style Cascades Manor House accommodates intimate parties and grand events, and hosts a popular Sunday Brunch each week.
One of the most popular urban parks in Jackson County, Cascades Park is the perfect setting for many of Jackson's unique events and celebrations. The Midwest's largest Civil War Muster is held here every year, as is the annual Rose Festival. Finally, spectacular fireworks illuminate the park's sky on three separate occasions each year.
