Year-round Events and Attractions
In addition to the natural spectacle of birds nesting in and migrating through the area, Jackson County hosts many community events and festivals geared toward bird lovers throughout the year.
On going events:
Sandhill Crane Count - Every Monday - 4:00 pm until dusk - Haenle Sanctuary
Join the local Audubon Society to count the Sandhill Cranes and other local birds at the Haenle Sanctuary every Monday evening from 4:00 pm until dusk. This Crane Count will take place during the fall until the marsh freezes over and the Cranes depart for the winter.
Guided Nature Hikes - Every Tuesday - 9:00 am to 11:00 am - The Dahlem Conservancy
Join Dahlem staff for an educational and rewarding hike on Dahlem's five miles of scenic trails in search of our seasonal flora and fauna. Whether you are a birder with your eyes to the sky, an amateur botanist with your nose to the ground, or simply enjoy a stroll outdoors, all are welcome.
